SAVA MC29 Sporty+3 Scooter Tyres Road & Track Test.

Gareth-Davidson

When Batt Holdings approached me to test their new range of Sava scooter tyres I was a bit skeptical about pushing the envelope on this "Unknown in Africa" brand of tyres.  We put a set of the MC29's onto my race scooter and hit the road for the first tests.

My initial feeling on the tyres after I had scrubbed them in was...where did all this grip come from I have been using the Michelin Boppers throughout my racing career and wish I had had these "SAVA" tyres fitted from the start.  They are amazing on the road for commuting and if you want to race with them they are only better.  I really put these tyres through their paces on the track and they just don't give up.  These are by far the best scooter tyres available on the market today FULL STOP!

I am really amped to test the MC 29 Sporty Street Race tyre the semi and full slicks when they hit the market in January 2010.

Scooter 101 Champion Gareth Davidson, chats about his 2009 race season of Scooter Racing 101
Where do I start?  Well firstly a BIG thanks to Linex Yamaha South Africa for preparing my Yamaha BWS100 for the years racing and which proved to be the scooter to beat by the end of 2009.

A lot of hard work and effort went into the 2009 race season and the competition proved to be fierce.
The biggest thing about our scooter racing is “how fast can you pull away?”  9 times out of 10 if you got to the front, it was where you stayed till the end of your heat, UNTIL, the new split course was introduced!
This is what the sport and we needed as the whole year we had been battling to get my scooter to pull away like my competition, and now this new track modification where they split the track in two parts allowed for great passing and more action filled racing.

We came up from 6th place to take the championship and we will be riding with the 1& 2 number boards for the 2010 season.

2010 Race Season

The 2010 season is going to be even more exciting with a lot more riders getting involved and so the competition is going to be fierce and the Scooter 101 Series as a whole is going to take a giant step forward.

As for me I have been sponsored by Linex Yamaha S.A. and my new sponsors for 2010 in partnership with Linex is Batt Holdings they have introduced a new scooter range to the market for commercial, race and leisure.

I will be racing on their range of race tyres for 2010 and am really excited as we have been testing on the road and track in all types of conditions and all I can say is “they are the business” on and off the race track.

The main guy at Batt Bruce de Kock also races “pro quads” so he really understands the need for the right race tyre for specific race conditions so he made sure that  SAVATECH  could provide our riders with a range of top race tyres which are safe and can handle the dynamics of our local race conditions before he entered into an exclusive deal with Savatech in Slovenia.

Linex as well as all national dealers will have the range on their shelves by end January 2010 so get down and get yourself a set of top tyres for your scooter no matter your poison Ride * Race * Rebel.
