In 2006 I decided to take up Quad MX and competed in the IDTCC Inland series on my Blaster 200 where I finished 3rd overall on my very first race. The Inland Series discontinued at the end of 2006 and I bought my first Suzuki LT-R450. In the 2007 year I entered the Pro-Am class but a serious crash at the beginning of the season at ERORA took me out of racing for the rest of the year. An intensive Bio-Kinetic rehabilitation program helped me to recover my shoulder and in 2008 I was ready to race again.
In this year I entered the High School Class for the first time and competed for the Northern Region Championships. The highlight for this year was most definitely the two races at Capricorn (Polokwane) where I managed 4th position in both races. The points earned gave me a boost for the season and I finished 5th overall in the High School Class for the 2008 season.
In 2009 I relocated to Johannesburg and joined Dirt Bronco club. Still on my stock standard LT-R450, I entered for the Northern Region Pro-450 class, Dirt Bronco Club Series and the MX Night Race Series. Intensive training on the Dirt Bronco track paid off. I finished 5th in the Northern Region, 2nd in the Dirt Bronco Club Championship and 3rd in the Night Series.
The 2009 year also introduced me to BATT's "Sticky" tyres which are an exceptional MX tyre for any track design and riding style. The grip ability on this tyre allows me to bring out all the horses on my LTR! I also had the opportunity to race with the 20" and 21" (SunF) in Namibia in the Dust for Cash series. A 6th overall position in the King of Quads and a 7th overall in the Quad A Class says it all!
I am looking forward to a Batt-sponsored 2010 year when I will again enter for the Northern Region Pro-450 class, Dirt Bronco Club Series and the MX Night Race Series.
